Birendra Bahadur Basnet leads Buddha Air. His father, Surendra Bahadur Basnet, started the airline in 1996. Under his leadership, it grew into one of Nepal’s major domestic airlines.
In October 2025, big protests known as the Gen Z protests changed Nepali politics. After that, he formed the Gatishil Loktantrik Party. He worked with Dinesh Prasai and other partners to start this new political group.
