Biswo Nath Poudel earned a PhD in agricultural and resource economics from UC Berkeley. He served as vice-chairman of Nepal’s National Planning Commission. In 2022, he briefly tried to run for parliament from Chitwan-3.
In May 2025, he became the 18th Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, the country’s central bank. He took charge of the country’s money policy during a time of major political change in Nepal.
