About
Kiran Manandhar’s artistic career began by chance. The pioneering painter Chandra Man Singh Maskey noticed him making sand sculptures on the banks of the Bishnumati River. Maskey took him on as a student. He taught him landscape, portrait, and still-life painting, meaning painting of arranged objects, for two years. He then passed him on to another prominent artist, Ramananda Joshi.
Manandhar later studied in India, at the invitation of abstract artist Ram Chandra Shukla. He went on to become the founding chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts.
