Prithvi Narayan Shah

Deceased

पृथ्वीनारायण शाह

Founding monarch of the unified Kingdom of Nepal

About

Prithvi Narayan Shah launched his unification campaign from the small Gorkha Kingdom. Over three decades, this campaign expanded Nepal’s borders. It brought the previously disunited principalities, small states each ruled by their own prince, of the Kathmandu Valley under a single crown. People generally see his reign as marking the end of Nepal’s medieval period and the start of its modern history.
